Christmas art you can make at home .

It seems like there are so many Christmas boxes to get out, so many stories and memories that surround most of your holiday décor.  I remember when I was a little girl my mom would change out our big picture in the living room with a beautiful picture of Mary and baby Jesus. I loved that painting, I thought Mary was so beautiful. It wasn’t until later when I had my own house, I would think of that picture, and Christmas art for my walls.   We didn’t have much in the way of money when we were starting out but I always wanted to decorate and celebrate the Holiday.  I wanted to recreate that beautiful feeling you get when you’re a child. 

Putting up a  tree is a given,  centerpieces on your table, maybe a wreath on your door but Christmas art is where my Christmas spirit is found.  So today I’m going to show you how easy it is to put up a little Christmas cheer for very little money.  This is not to take place of beautiful paintings of the baby Jesus, but as a fun and cheerful way to add some fun festivity to your house.  Big impact little money.

First I love this little sign I made this a few years ago with the fence that blew down in my backyard.  My cute friend and I asked nicely my husband if he could nail one by ones around the outside of the fallen fence to make a frame.  We then painted the whole sign, well I spray painted mine and sanded it up a bit, then we modpodged our saying on the front.  I had my silhouette cut out the saying I wanted in from white card stock.   I hot glued ball fringe around the edge and there may be a wee bit of glitter sprinkled on top for good measure. This cute little number was free because I just used my stash of goodies  however if you need to buy a plank of fencing its around 6-8$ at Home depot.

This next piece of art was done last year.  Its a darling printout from www.caravanshoppe.com  I’m in love with all the stuff they have! I used this download for gifts, tags, sacks, and even printed it as an iron on.  I took the image and uploaded it to Costco and had them print out a big print.  Then I took my subway art that I already had on a canvas and wrapped the whole thing in wrapping paper and then just taped on the poster its so easy!  You could wrap any picture you had in wrapping paper and do the same thing..

(this has been added a year later,  I almost took this post down because my exhausted brain did not pick up the fact that I had made this poster shown it on a local TV show and had it hanging in my house before anyone even realized that the deer had 5 legs!!!  I was mortified and Studio 5 did a little joke piece on how it takes viewers to pick up on these things!! needless to say its a family joke now and it will make an appearance in my home every Christmas until we stop laughing about, or until I get sick of the teasing lol)

This last one is a fun little vintage piece for my piano room.  I took a darling image from the www.graphicfairy.com and had it printed out as a 14×11  from Costco, and then just painted out the background and glittered the deer.  Done and done!  ( well kinda will never be quite done with that extra leg!)

Now my walls are all decked out for the season and it feels a little more festive in this house.  See you on Studio 5 and Merry Christmas to you all!
