This wreath is such a fun way to warm up cold doors and walls this winter. After all the Christmas decorations are down its nice to have something to take it place and still make your home feel cozy and warm. I’m so glad that BloomNation inspired me to share my wreaths! They have such an inspiring blog and their florist are amazing!!! If you haven’t heard of them they are a flower delivery service that supports local florists through their online marketplace. Cant wait to create with flowers soon, but for now Yarn pom-poms and fur will have to substitute for flowers. lol
things you will need
1. foam wreath form any size
2. straight pins
3. yarn 3-4 colors
4. a piece of fur 1/8 yard
1. used a foam wreath form and wrap about 3-4 colors of yarn around the foam. I pined the end piece of yarn and just wrapped and wrapped covering all the foam. then to end the color i just pined the cut end again, supper easy. I like using a few colors because it add personality and it fun to match your house this way. The fabulous thing about this is you can pin it into place and when you want to change up the colors you can unwind the gray and add yellow for spring. (am I getting ahead of myself?) lol
2. the next thing you are going to want to do is make all the pompoms to use as your flowers. they are supper easy here’s how you make them
(a). wrap a piece of cardboard or your fingers about 40 times with yarn, you want to make these different sizes so that they will compliment each other and look good together. I’s also cute to add lots of colors and textures of yarn.
(b). slip the yarn off the cardboard and carefully set on the table.
(c). might be hard to see, but I tied a piece of yarn around the middle of the bunch, you want the looped ends to be on the outside.
(d). then snip all the loops so that it starts to take the shape of a puff.
(e). now the fun part start giving the puff a hair cut. you need to cut a lot off if you want it more round. I wanted some to be more organic so I left those a bit longer. I had really fun kinky and crazy yarn so I would get amazing textures. There are so many different weights of yarn you can get some really fun and cool effects.
(f). last but not least you need to attach the puffs to the wreath I just used long quilting pins and just stuck them on can you see that pearl in the middle?
3. the third thing you need to do is add the fur. I made some fur puffs as well. Just cut a long rectangle about 6 inch and fold it over and squish then pin, done!! If you want to be more precise you can hot glue the ends inside to create a poof of fur but i just used pins. I loved the fur ribbon I found at Joann’s this year. They also had great fur on the bolt to play around with. Can’t want to show you my next project using my fur.
