The bell jar is 100

 Happy Birthday to the bell jar its a hundred this year!! wow there is just something special about being that old.  Not much survives past a few years these days you need a new phone every year, your computer is 5 years old!!!! how do you function.  LOL 

there are a few things is life that just stand the test of time.  this little old fashion beauty has been reborn in turquoise blue and is sitting waiting for you at Target as we speak.  I  just loved the color so of course I bought a few.  I didn’t like the feel of the brand new lids and lets face it I wasn’t using these to can with.  so….

I scoured flea markets this summer for the perfect vintage lids for these little cuties.  And guess what I found some!! One of these metal lids have clear glass in the middle of the ring and some have the glass on the underside.  they look darling and truly make my new bell jars look antique. 

I’m in love with  my old vintage jars, I have 5 stashed around the house holding marbles flowers and sea shells. But I have to say I love using the blue ones for powder sugar (with a cut metal lid),  extra oil from frying, and my hidden stash of chocolate almonds.  I would never risk breaking  my vintage jars for everyday wear, but hey when there just a few dollars in this beautiful happy color why not have them everywhere.  Thanks bell for having a birthday and for making a product that can stand the test of time in style.
